My Personal Viennale ’10 Programme

Viennale is the annual Vienna film festival, which usually takes up the second half of October. During these days, I spend considerable time in the five festival theatres. It’s a great opportunity to catch a lot of films that I could otherwise never see at all, let alone on the big screen. There are a few mainstream productions shown, but I’m in a habit of steering clear of most of them.

This is my personal programme for 2010. If you would like to meet up, feel free to contact me on facebook, twitter or via mail at squadrat @ this domain (soher.at).

  2. Actually, I’m very picky when it comes to movies. I’ve been known to walk out of a few I really didn’t like.
As to how I select a festival programme, it’s not a very special progress. I look through the programme, reading the titles and texts, looking at the pictures and select those that might be interesting. Then I leave out those screenings I won’t be able to make because I’m at work or because of inevitable time collisions. If the list is still too long, I leave out the least interesting showings.
The final stage happens at the box office when I’m learning which of the items on my list are already sold out. This year I was very lucky at this stage, that’s why the list is as long as it is.
A single Viennale ticket is €8,50. The more you take, the cheaper they get, even if you team up for buying. Prices will be further reduced for certain groups (members of Ö1 Club, customers and employees of Erste Bank and so on).
